Dance Studio17

It’s August, which means Studio17 is a year old. A year old! We cannot believe it. In a blink of an eye, the Studio has been open for 12 whole months and it’s been a rollercoaster ride (one which we enjoy, we should add). Sure, there have been some challenges along the way but what new business doesn’t? Most of you know the origin story of Studio17 but to recap, the inspiration to open a dance studio in Southampton’s city centre came after I saw some of the facilities my

Studio17 is delighted to announce that it has become a licensed venue for Les Mills classes. From September BodyAttack, BodyCombatt, BodyBalance and Les Mills Barre will take place at the Southampton studio. Les Mills is one of the leading fitness brands in the UK allowing thousands of people up and down the country to achieve their fitness goals. Paul McManus, co-owner of Studio17, said: “We are delighted to be able to bring these classes to the people of Southampton and offer them a great place to train. We are about

Having watched Eva dance in various competitions and events over the years, the importance of what surface she is moving on is not lost on me. We’ve seen various dancers – young and older – injure themselves over the years and not be able to practice and compete, which can be incredibly sad and frustrating for people who love to dance.  Now, while no movement activity like dancing, is without risk, the fact that the type of surface you are on can help reduce the risks – or sadly,

It was great to see Starz Ballet recently receive such prominent exposure in the Daily Mail article. The children all looked to be enjoying the class, as do all of the people that come through the doors at Studio17. And it got us thinking about the benefits that dance gives to people. Here are just some of the benefits that we see dancing giving to, not just children, but anyone of any age. Friendship You meet, and you dance. Everyone is there to do the same thing. There’s no judgement. Friendships are

We are thrilled to welcome them to the Studio every Saturday morning where ballet and tap classes run for children aged 6 months to 7 years old. Starz is just one of the varying dance groups that use the space on a regular basis. For more information about Starz Ballet visit their website and for details

If you said to me, this time last year, that at the beginning of 2018, I along with my business partner would have built and opened a state-of-the-art dance studio in the centre of Southampton, I would have laughed and told you to pull the other leg. But here we are. We opened Studio17 in August after nearly four months of building work and we haven’t looked back. To say it has been easy would be the biggest lie since we were told the earth was flat. 2017 has been

Eva McManus is one of the daughters that inspired the creation of Studio17. She tells us why she loves dancing and how proud she is of Studio17. Q. When did you start dancing and what sort of dancing do you do? I started dancing when I was four years old and I currently do ballet, tap and modern. My favourite is modern because it allows me to express myself fully. I feel a sense of freedom when I dance, its an opportunity to express myself, if I have had

We are delighted that the Southern Daily Echo featured Studio17 on their news website. It was a great piece about why we started Studio17 – to provide a high quality studio space for the community to be used by all abilities and ages. We especially love the photo gallery which includes photos of Eva and Violet whose love of all things dance and fitness provided the inspiration at the very beginning. Two fathers have built a state-of-the-art dance studio in the centre of Southampton after being inspired by their daughters’ love of dance and fitness. Paul McManus and Glenn Flinter could see how much fun and enjoyment Eva and Violet had when dancing and wanted to ensure that all abilities and ages have the opportunity to get involved in different forms of dance and exercise in one of the best facilities in Southampton. They built Studio 17, in Southampton, to suit all ages and abilities and for all aspects of
